Gymlab for Claude and ChatGPT
The Gymlab connector links your Gymlab account to an AI assistant. Once it is connected, you can ask your assistant about your training, have it build workouts and plans, and log the sessions you have done, all in a conversation.
Before You Connect
You need a Gymlab account. Set one up in the Gymlab iPhone app, then connect your assistant with the same account. What your assistant saves appears in the app, and the plans, workouts, and sessions in the app are there for your assistant.
How to Connect
Today you add Gymlab as a custom connector, using this server address:
https://app.gymlab.ai/mcp
Claude
In Claude's web or desktop app:
- Open Customize, then Connectors, select + Add and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it Gymlab and enter the server address below.
- Select Connect, sign in with your Gymlab account and approve the connection.
- Start a new chat and ask about your training.
ChatGPT
In ChatGPT in a web browser:
- Turn on Developer mode in Settings, under Security and login.
- Open Plugins, select + and enter the server address below.
- Sign in with your Gymlab account and approve the connection.
- In a new chat, choose Developer mode from the + menu, select Gymlab and ask about your training.
What Your Assistant Can Do
Read
- Your plans and workouts, including which workout is next
- The sessions you have logged, with their exercises, sets, reps, and weights
- Your statistics, strain, streak, and personal records
- Your strength estimates for the exercises you have logged
- Your training preferences, including your sex and how many sessions a week you train, and the notes you keep on exercises
- Gymlab's exercise library
Change
- Create plans and workouts, edit a workout's details, and add exercises to a workout
- Log a session you have done
- Update your training preferences and your exercise notes
- Delete plans and workouts that were created through an assistant
An assistant cannot change or delete the sessions you have logged, and it cannot delete plans and workouts that were made in the app.
If you have connected Hevy to Gymlab, a session you log through an assistant is also posted to your Hevy account as a public workout, just as a session you log in the app is.
Things to Ask
- “Help me create a new workout plan”
- “What should I train today?”
- “Create me a 45 minute workout focussed on glutes”
- “How many sessions did I log this month?”
- “What are my personal records on the bench press?”
- “How has my strain changed over the last four weeks?”
How to Disconnect
You remove a connection in the assistant where you approved it. After that, the assistant can no longer read or change anything in your Gymlab account.
- Claude: Open Customize, then Connectors, select Gymlab and disconnect or remove it.
- ChatGPT: Open Plugins, select Gymlab and disconnect or remove it.
- Gymlab: If you created an access token for a command-line tool, open Settings, then Integrations, choose the assistant and revoke the token.
Disconnecting does not delete anything from your Gymlab account. Plans, workouts, and sessions your assistant saved stay until you delete them in the app.
