How to do it

  1. Place your hands on the floor while facing the bar, leaving enough space to lie flat without touching it.
  2. Step or jump your feet back into a plank.
  3. Lower your chest and thighs to the floor.
  4. Press your upper body away from the floor.
  5. Step or hop your feet toward your hands into a crouch.
  6. Jump forward over the bar with both feet taking off together.
  7. Land on both feet with your knees slightly bent.
  8. Turn to face the bar for the next repetition.

Form cues

  • Keep breathing through each repetition
  • Push through your whole hands
  • Keep your knees tracking your toes
  • Aim for quiet landings

Common mistakes

  • Dropping onto the floorUse your arms to control the descent rather than letting your chest hit the ground.
  • Jumping from too far awayAdjust your feet closer to the bar before takeoff so you can clear it without a long forward leap.
  • Twisting during the jumpKeep your body facing forward over the bar rather than rotating in the air.

Safety

Catching your feet on the bar can cause a fall, especially when fatigue reduces jump clearance. Rushed floor transitions and stiff landings can strain your wrists, shoulders, or knees.

  • Secure the bar against rolling without placing supports in your landing area.
  • Keep both sides of the bar clear of loose plates and other obstacles.
  • Practice a few controlled jumps over the chosen bar height before starting a set.
  • End the set when you cannot reliably clear the bar or control your landing.

Choose a no-jump version or seek guidance from a physiotherapist if wrist, shoulder, knee, or ankle pain limits floor transitions or jumping.
