Pilates Ring Standing Leg Squeeze
The Pilates Ring Standing Leg Squeeze trains your inner thighs by pressing a resistance ring between your legs while standing. It emphasizes controlled pressure rather than large movements.
- Beginner
- Isolation
- Low injury risk
- Rest 1 min
How to do it
- Stand with your feet parallel and your knees slightly bent.
- Position the ring’s padded contact points against your inner thighs, just above your knees.
- Press your thighs inward to compress the ring.
- Gradually release the pressure until the ring returns to its starting shape, keeping it in place.
Form cues
- Keep your pelvis still.
- Stay equally weighted on both feet.
- Exhale gently as you squeeze.
Common mistakes
- Rolling onto your inner foot edgesKeep your heels and the bases of your big and little toes grounded throughout the squeeze.
- Turning the squeeze into a squatMaintain the same standing height instead of bending deeper with each repetition.
- Placing the pads on your knee jointsMove the pads higher so they contact the soft tissue of your inner thighs rather than the knees.
Safety
Excessive pressure can strain your inner thighs or irritate your knees. An unstable or damaged ring can slip, pinch your skin, or disrupt your balance.
- Check the ring and pads for cracks, looseness, or damage before use.
- Begin with light compression rather than trying to flatten the ring.
- Use a stable counter for light hand support if you feel unsteady.
- Stop the set if you feel groin or knee pain.
If you have an existing groin or knee injury, or difficulty standing steadily, ask a physiotherapist about a supported or seated version.
