How to do it
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent.
- Position your left hand at chest height, your right hand near your waist, with palms facing inward.
- Shift your weight toward your left leg.
- Turn your torso gently left, carrying your hands across with it.
- Exchange your hand heights in a smooth circle, bringing your right hand to chest height.
- Shift your weight toward your right leg.
- Turn your torso gently right, carrying your hands across with it.
- Exchange your hand heights again, returning your left hand to chest height to complete the repetition.
Form cues
- Let your breath flow naturally.
- Keep your shoulders loose.
- Keep each knee aligned over its toes.
Common mistakes
- Leaning sidewaysKeep your chest above your pelvis as your weight moves between your legs.
- Rushing the transitionsUse an even, unhurried pace so the movement flows without abrupt stops.
- Squatting too lowUse a shallow stance that you can maintain without leg shaking or strain.
Safety
Shifting farther than you can control may cause a loss of balance. Forcing the turn while your feet stay planted can strain your knees.
- Practice on a level, nonslip surface with clear space around you.
- Keep a stable chair or counter nearby if your balance is uncertain.
- Limit your torso rotation to a comfortable range without twisting your knees.
- Stop if you develop joint pain, dizziness, or unsteadiness.
If you have recurring dizziness, balance problems, or knee pain, ask a physiotherapist or doctor about an appropriate supported version.
