Form cues
- Keep your heel heavy.
- Keep your ankle still.
- Move slowly, without gripping the floor.
Common mistakes
- Lifting all toes togetherLightly hold the resting toes down with your fingers while practicing the moving toes.
- Forcing a large circleMake the circle smaller if it becomes jerky; toe circles may be barely visible.
- Curling instead of spreadingReach your toes outward along the floor rather than tucking their tips underneath.
Safety
Forcing toe motion beyond your available range can irritate the toe joints. Excessive effort can also cause foot cramping.
- Use only a comfortable, pain-free range.
- Stop if you feel pinching or catching.
- Pause the drill if your foot cramps.
If you have a recent toe injury, foot surgery, or persistent toe pain, ask a physiotherapist or doctor before practicing circles.
